About SEAMi

In partnership with NCSEA, our mission is to support the advancement of the Structural Engineering profession and promote the excellence of its members in the practice of structural engineering. Our association strives to provide the public with a Safe Built Environment and inform the community about the importance of Structural Engineering for the safety, health, and welfare of the general public. The organization is founded upon the principles of honesty, knowledge, integrity and diligence.

Objectives

    • To provide a forum for structural engineers to exchange ideas and experiences.
    • To provide guidance towards the development of professional standards and design guidelines.
    • To provide a resource for technical matters concerning codes and specifications.
    • To develop a unified voice for all structural engineers in matters of minimum design requirements and safety for the public.

General SEAMi Information

    • SEAMi was first established in 1997, originating from several different Architectural and Engineering firms and other key structural engineers in the state.
    • SEAMi currently has about 160+ members, which includes the Member Level, Associate Member Level, and the Young Member Level. For more information please see the Membership page.
    • SEAMi exists on a State and Local Chapter level, with an elected Board of Directors and Officers. Both a Constitution and By Laws have been in place from the inception with some revisions through the years. Please visit the Local Chapters page for information about a chapter near you.

    • SEAMi is a member organization of the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA). Other organizations are the Americal Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) and the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
    • SEAMi also offers other professional development courses in areas such as structural rescue and many others.
    • SEAMi sponsors periodic presentations, with topics ranging from loading conditions to geotechnical interface and fire protection. These presentations represent the latest and greatest technologies in the field of Structural Engineering. SEAMi offers Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for these presentations as part of continuing education towards your licensure.
